Steven Leshem DVM

Steven Leshem DVM is currently a board-certified surgeon at Veterinary Specialists of Connecticut, located in West Hartford, where he performs orthopedic, soft tissue, trauma, and neurological surgery. He also provides training for the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians' Veterinary Internship and Residency Matching Program. Further, Steven Leshem DVM has lectured before the Veterinary Orthopedic Society and the Hartford and Litchfield County Veterinary Associations.

Steven Leshem DVM earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he made the dean's list several times and participated in the Golden Key International Honour Society. From 1996 to 2000, he attended the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University while also engaging in a number of charitable and outreach activities. At Tufts, he founded and led the Tufts Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) for People program to provide therapy animals to medical and community facilities. Steven Leshem DVM received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts, as well as a Presidential Award for Citizenship and a Valerie Bates Humanitarian Award.

After earning his DVM, Dr. Steven Leshem conducted a rotating internship with Veterinary Specialists of Connecticut. He went on to serve as an Associate Veterinarian at Mesa Veterinary Hospital and a volunteer surgical assistant at Veterinary Specialists of Northern Colorado and Colorado State University. Prior to accepting his current position, Dr. Leshem completed a residency in small animal surgery at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. A member in good standing of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Leshem possesses accreditation in Vet-Stem Cell Therapy and the University of Pennsylvania Hip Improvement Program (PennHIP).
