Sue Schardt is an award-winning media producer, DJ, and sought after expert who presents frequently throughout the United States and abroad. Sue Schardt spoke in 2012 to an international gathering of producers at the European Radio Features Think Tank in Leipzig, Germany. She drew on two decades of experience with “US Public Media: What’s New in the Old, Old in the New?”, aiming to give the audience a sense of the new directions for media in the United States, and recommendations for “best practices” during a time of great change.

Ms. Schardt began working independently in 1998 with the creation of SchardtMEDIA, a firm that specialized in research-based strategies to guide U.S. clients overseas organizations in developing effective programming. In the decade that she served as the company’s president, she brought together collaborative teams to analysis various media ecosystems, and to design and execute new approaches to engage a more broadly diverse audience.

Outside of her career, Sue Schardt is an avid swimmer who has swum both up the Hudson River and across it, and participated in the Alcatraz Classic, swimming two miles across San Francisco Bay -- from “The Rock” to St. Francis Beach. She is member of a number of local groups, including the Savin Hill Neighborhood Association, The Gathering, and she is a long-time live radio DJ/volunteer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s station, WMBR-FM.
