The recipient of a bachelor's degree in education from Jarvis Christian College, Sue Starr began her career as a teacher in 1997 at Lyles Middle School in Garland, Texas, while pursuing her master's degree in education at the University of Texas. Six years later, while working as a school counselor at Rolling Hills Elementary in Lancaster, Sue Starr obtained a master's degree in educational administration in support of her goal of becoming a principal. She worked as a counselor until 2013, when she was hired as assistant principal at Rogers Middle School in Oklahoma.
Sue Starr also served as assistant principal at Star Spencer High School and, from 2015 to 2018, was principal of Northeast Mid-High School. In this capacity, she oversaw strategic planning concerning data-based instruction as well as staff accountability evaluation and mentoring. Under her leadership, the school earned the National Academy Foundation Model School distinction in two consecutive years.
Ms. Starr has maintained certification as a school counselor and principal since 2003 and 2007, respectively, and has served on several school committees, including the NE Taskforce Committee and Student Support Services Committee. She recently completed a doctorate in organizational leadership at Northcentral University.
