The strength I chose to pick to reflect on was consistency. Consistency means to me that things are always the same and that rules apply to everyone the same. Consistency is important to me because I like order and I like things the way they are unless a major change is needed. Otherwise I like the status quo. Balance is very important to me. When things are consistent everybody as an even chance to show his or her worth. People already know what is expected. I believe consistency is one of the most important things to have in all your relationships including academic, personal, and social life.
The First Year Success Series was the most useful and helpful assignment we did during class. For this activity we were required to attend sessions in the following sections: Academic Engagement & Career Exploration, Buckeye Book Community, Health and Wellness and one of our choice. Seven days from when we attended the session, we were to write a reflection about what we learned from the session. All the sessions introduced me to the many resources around campus I could take advantage of and also some good study and research tips.
The Time Management Activities were also very helpful. The first part of this assignment was the Daily Schedule Chart. We had to keep track of how we spent our time each day and record it in the log for a week. Next was the Fixed Commitments Calendar. This is when we had to create a personalized weekly schedule that made the most of our available time. During this assignment, I learned that I was spending most of my free time not doing nothing at all but on my phone, watching tv, or sleeping. I've learned that in college there is always something for you to do or to work on. I will now utilize my time more wisely and manage my time better!
