There was once a time when the printed word had the power to influence its readers, opening them up to a new world. Is this generation's typed word any different? Slowly the news has evolved into an institution whose goal is not to enlighten its readers, but to mimic their thoughts and push them towards advertisers, regardless of their improprieties. In light of the eschewed media, or just nonexistent coverage, we are responding to a call from the students, and from the Tallahassee community abroad, for an independent media outlet.
The Independent has three distinctive safeguards that enable it to be entirely independent.
First, under no circumstance will this organization be funded by any sales of advertisement, and all donations must be done through pay pal account with no donation exceeding $25. Secondly, all records that support the article and all evidence will be published along side the article. Lastly, all letters to the editor that show substantial evidence to support its thesis will be published.
The launch of this website is on the eve of a pivotal point in the future of this university, this state, this nation, and the world we live in today. We hope you enjoy our coverage, and if at any point in time there is an issue not being covered, hold this institution accountable. It is your role as an active reader.
