The Midwest is a wonderful place to live, but then, I love everywhere I have visited - New York City, Chicago, San Fransisco, Phoenix, Denver, Boise, Seattle and the list goes on. My favorite saying is "Life is an adventure" and it really is true. The best of this adventure is the people I encounter. People are fascinating and truly fun to know. The relationships and the joy I get out of people adds a great deal to my world. My children are at the beginning of this adventure of life. They are entering the working world and my daughter is having her first child. Excellent! I will get to know another human being right from the start. My husband is a delightful man who truly enjoys sports. He enjoys sports so much he officiates at football and basketball games. as well as his beloved track and field meets. My adventure has taken an interesting turn this past year. I am a Graduate student at University of South Dakota and loving every minute of my schooling. My school work will result in a Masters of Public Administration. As a mature student, I am encountering ideas and thoughts easily applied to my experience in the working world. My Undergraduate degree is in Accounting which left little room to learn the human side of our working world. This degree work allows me to put a name to my experiences. My volunteer work is focused on those less fortunate than myself. Through The Community Outreach, I have been paired with two families who work but are finding it difficult to make ends meet. Again, the relationships and the joy of mentoring has given dimension to my life. My friend of over 30 years and my own parents gave me a deep sense of giving back for the wealth of experiences I am so lucky to enjoy. Volunteering allows me to have an impact on those I encounter and brings joy to me in the process.
