Read Between the Wines

The Read Betwen The Wines book club was formed at the end of 2008 by the four original founding members - Jess, Marie, Ellie and Roz. Since then that number has grown to double the size with Sam, Cerina, Louise and Rachel all happily taking the vow of reading a book once a month and then meeting up to discuss.

We try to arrange an official book club night every four weeks, with a few unofficial evenings in between! Each month one of the girls takes turns to host, having already chosen a book for us all to read beforehand.

Then all we have to do is promise not to talk about the book before we meet and keep our opinions under wraps until it's time to unleash them on the rest of the group.

Sometimes the hosts theme their dinner to the style of food featured in the book we have just read - and sometimes this is easier said than done, i.e. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer may have been a bit too much for example....

All of us have creative jobs of some description - whether working on set design or make-up for film companies, creating marketing backdrops or writing for a living...so we are used to letting our imaginations loose - the perfect formula for avid devourers of fiction.

So there you have it - eight ladies of similar ages, similar lives and a shared love of the written word and a glass of wine. A perfect recipe for a book club don't you think?
