James (Jim) Martin

In his professional career Jim Martin has held several key positions in the telecommunications industry where he managed public and Community Relations, Consumer Affairs, Public and Social Policy Development, Corporate Strategic Planning, Mediation and Negotiations. In 1988, He accepted the position as Director of the 150 branches of the NAACP’s Western Regional office. As the NAACP’s Regional Director, Martin joined Dr. Benjamin Hooks in a White House meeting with President of the United States George W. Bush to seek the Federal Government’s help in protecting Black Churches and Communities in the face of growing white supremacy group bombings and other violent acts. He is an internationally recognized consultant with clinets including both Fortune 500 and Multi-National corporationns and Non-profits organizations alike. Jim Martin has also met with world leaders including the Emperor and Prime Minister of Japan, Foreign Ministry officials of the Republic of South Korea as well as government and Tribal leaders of South Africa, and Zaire. Martin's international work has included, his leading the largest African American delegation in history in an official NAACP mission to Japan. In that effort, he laid valuable groundwork to resolve the difficult issues between the Japanese people and African American communities. The California State senate awarded him a special Senate Resolution to commend his efforts Later, at the request of the California Office of International Trade, Jim Martin led California's official 1991 -- forty-person -- Mission to the first U.S./Japan Grass Roots Summit Meetings in Tokyo, Japan. In the after math of the 1992 Rodney King uprisings in Los Angeles, Jim Martin assisted leaders of the Crips and Bloods gangs to facilitate a truce between them. The truce would be part of their little known effort to help stop the damaging impact of drugs and violence and help in rebuilding the city after the riots. Today, one of Jim Martin primary projects is the Fatherhood and Men’s Services Program with California Federation for Fathers, Families and Communities. A goal of this program is to assist fathers and men in the development of a constructive, personal social support networks to enhance their overall capacity as Father’s and as men. Iim also continues his work as an Organizational and Personal Development Coach and Consultant. He is also a talented vocalist , a published author, and an exciting Spoken Word Artist.
