At the age of 2 my maternal grandmother sent me to Jamaica where I lived till I was 6 with a chinese family. my first memory of my mother was when the family brought me back to Kingston. I returned to America with my mother & suffered verbal & physcial abuse untill I was 13 & ran away from home. While in the 5th grade @PS181 in Bklyn I took a state wide test & scored a 2nd year college student reading level, I was giving full Regents classes & should have Guaduated college by the time I was 16 but that never happen nor the dream to attend Yale for a MBA in Law & Government. I would pass the bar @ 17 & then open my own firm to help troubled youth in my community. I was instead froced to move to Dallas TX & was called Nigger boy by classmates. I finally met my father at 13 & went to live with him untill I was 15 when I left because of his alcoholic & physcial abuse. Homeless in NYC I dropped outta school got a GED & began working varies jobs. Two weeks B4 my sixteen birthday my grandmother retired to Jamaica & left me her apt. in Bklyn. 16 yrs. old paying rent I had to work two or more jobs to pay bills so I danced to release my stress. A B-Boy from Bklyn with big dreams of getting out, Donovan was naive to the world. In 1987 Doug E Fresh "Keep Rising to the Top" was my first Choreography gig. The video was directed by Lionel Martain who was responsible for directing thousand of Rap & R & B music videos in the 90's. I was the kid @ the Roxy who took off my skates & started dancing on the carpet. I wore a Blonde Streak in my hair since 1984 in different styles, 1 day @ Club Sensation in Newark NJ , Kwame asked me how to add a blonde design the follow summer he dropped his album with my blonde design. Basically I went to a lot of hip hop Industry parties /clubs in NYC & got my Dance/got my wreck on. Danced with the real artist before the fame & the money. The models were always there, open bar & gift bags to go.. NYC Artist have a party at the opening of an envelope, B-day partyies were always best.. Label Artist parties were great for networking with he people that actually did the hiring. Puffy learned this very early in his career. Industry parties brought a lot of attention & help me to earn props as a dancer we made the parties. Rappers Around the World was a local cable show hosted by DJ Red Alert which I was a featured dancer. Often, I danced on many Club shows for MTV"Club MTV The Grind etc... featured appearances in music videos for Gangstarr, Chill Rob Gee, Steady B, Chubb Rock, Kid & Play, EPMD, Roxxane Shante, Real Roxxane, Shelly Thunder, Biz Markie...I then worked with many early Def Jam, First Priority, Select Records, artist. As dancer part thyme I worked with Rosie Perez often giving her steps & combination for the artist she was then choreographing. I continued to make featured appearances in rap videos & live performances but just part time. I audition for a Heavy D video "We Got our own thing" Choreographed by Rosie Perez, while on the set I was asked to go on tour with Guy. I choreographed there "Spend the Night" video & Arsenio Hall & then after a few rehearsals for there tour I was replaced by my dance partner under suspect circumstances'. This disappointment sent me into shock as I had quit my job rent was due & I was ready to go on tour. Two weeks later I was choreographing a tour for LL Cool J,1989-1994. @17 my first major world tour with a Platium selling Artist.
