James Brennan
After achieveing an A* in GCSE Drama, James was thrown into the world of acting. Acting in numourous small productions in his local area, James was slowly building his acting experience. With his new found confidence, he went on to help create and star in comedy spoofs and short films, such as 'Ross Kemp On Gravesend Gangs' and 'Geordie Shore vs The Only Way Is Essex'. Although the videos created were limited to a small youtube audience, they became an instant hit in his local area and soon people began to talk about how succesful he could be.
It wasn't long before James was noticed by others in the industry and asked to audition for an exciting new youth organisation that was being developed. He of course applied for it and was chosen out of 4000 other actors to take part in the National Youth Film Academy course during the Summer of 2011. Whilst on this course, he met the likes of Simon Bird who taught a masterclass aimed at young actors. To conclude the course, James starred in a short film 'The Sindicate', which The Guardian described as “a religious fantasy comedy set in a weird near-future – which was ambitious, smart and even a little scary.”
Taking all the experience he had learnt from the Summer, James continued to search for a role that would give him the professional experience that he needed. Fortunately for James, in early December 2011, he was cast as a member of a twitter gang in the short film '12 The Damaged Race' directed by Aml Ameen. He starred along side Jay Brown and Nabil Elouahab in a film that is a "social commentary based thriller about the eventful year of London 2011."
His next role, after completeing '12 The Damaged Race', was in Jake Warren's latest short film. James had met Jake Warren on the National Youth Film Academy course during the summer and so he jumped at chance to star in a film that was to be entered into the Jessops competetion 'The Shot'. In a film that mixed present day with that of film-noir, James played a skinhead antagonist that battles with the hero 'Heinz' (Kenneth Collard) for the number one ranking.
