s lessons the hard way.A native of Philadelphia, Maxwell grew up on Erie Avenue and had plans to study criminal justice/juvenile delinquency at Temple University at the end of his tour of duty as a radioman in the U.S. Navy until just five minutes of anger cost him 14 years of his life.For years, he fueled a cycle of anger, assault, and denial, effectively blaming others for his own situations

one of which resulted in a conviction of third degree murder and more than a decade of time spent in prison. Now, despite the obstacles that prison can produce, Maxwell, 40, currently serves as Community Partnership Liaison for Philadelphia

s Mayor's Office of Community Services (MOCS), the largest Community Action Agency in Pennsylvania. In this role, he seeks out collaborative relationships and forges partnerships with other government agencies, community groups, faith

based institutions and universities to help transform neighborhoods, advocate for children, and improve the quality of life for those impacted by poverty. His work with MOCS provides Philadelphia residents with the resources and information they need to enter and advance in the workforce; strengthen fathers
