Thomas Brutnell

With several decades of experience in plant-based biotechnology, Thomas Brutnell has worked with a variety of organizations, in both the commercial and academic fields. Currently, Thomas Brutnell works with the Chesterfield-based Viridis Genomics Consulting (VGC), which he established in August 2018. Through VGC, he helps guide multi-disciplinary teams and assists with project management and team building, while also helping develop effective communication strategies.
Alongside his role with VGS, Mr. Brutnell serves as the vice president of Gateway Biotechnology, a St. Louis-based firm, where he oversees product development. With Gateway, he has helped build a comprehensive research and development pipeline that focuses on preventing noise-induced and age-related hearing loss.
Thomas Brutnell has published over 100 papers focused on plant genomics and genetics during his career. Alongside this, he has mentored dozens of scientists in the biotechnology field, while also speaking at a variety of industry-focused conferences, such as the Plant Genomics 2019 in Osaka, Japan.
