Tim Powell leads the R&D Studio at Historic Royal Palaces, the charity’s in-house creative development team. The studio experiments and innovates in collaboration with artists and creatives: exploring new ways to engage the public in historic spaces and stories, and the business models and partnerships required to deliver them.
Through a rolling programme of artist, creative and technologist residencies, the focus is on developing large-scale live performances and installations, the use of immersive technologies – and new combinations of these.
Previous projects include the multi-award winning Lost Palace experience (Banqueting House, 2016 & 2017) and the ‘Jacobean drag-how in Polari’ Long Live Queen James! (Banqueting House 2027 & 2017, Latitude 2019) - amongst many other digital, live and online visitor experiences.
Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, Banqueting House, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle and Gardens.
