In 1999, while serving on active duty, Jones was stalked, raped, and hazed. These traumatic events altered the next twenty years of his life. Jones endured an over ten-year journey of struggle, hitting his rock bottom.

After receiving assistance from the Department of Veteran Affairs, Jones navigated past each adversity, reclaiming his “colorful” voice. Today, Jones’s purpose and mission is to inspire hope and empower healing of those who have had encounters with Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) and sexual assault.

In his senior year at the University of West Florida. Jones is a proud brother in the Tau-Psi chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Last year, he spoke to the campus of UWF during their 17th Annual Take Back the Night event.

In 2015, the John C. Maxwell Team recognized Jones as a Top 100 candidate for the 2015 John C. Maxwell Leadership Award. Jones also walked more than 200 miles from Pensacola to Tallahassee with a goal of raising awareness for approximately 5,000 homeless veterans in the State of Florida, earning recognition from Governor Rick Scott.

This year, Jones represented UWF at the 9th Annual Student Veterans of America National Conference. Presenting his breakout session, "Taking Back My Life: From Victim to Victor', and participating in the, "Do Ask Do Tell", discussion of transitioning LGBTQ student veterans. The National Association of Student Personnel Administrators or NASPA also invited Jones to speak during their Symposium for Military Connected Students.

The Florida Humanities Council and The Telling Project highlighted Jones’s journey with the production of Telling: Pensacola. This production allows six area veterans the opportunity to educate their community on the effects of military service.

Jones facilitates Sexual Assault and Rape Prevention trainings. Jones has facilitated trainings for Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, Region One Trauma Informed Care, Seventh Special Forces Group, and Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall. Jones has become a top-of-mind keynote speaker.

Jones believes that, where colorful voices lay dormant and doubtful, with hope, healing and action, those voices and dreams can instead become ignited!
