Of the different things that could define me, the one that has become the most prevalent in the past year and a half is my work in the realm of comedic improvisational comedy. Improv has become a major part of my life which has allowed for a major reversal in personality and actions. Before joining a local Improv group based at UGA known as Laugh Out Loud, I was incredibly anti-social, barely leaving my dorm room and not speaking to anyone. Since joining the group and participating in the troupes practice sessions and eventual performances across the southeastern United States I have become substantially more outgoing and have gained a cadre of truly valued friends who enjoy my friendship as well. No one in the group is the same, and the varied unique personalities, senses of humor, and simple differences in belief have created a diverse group of individuals who can come together to help each other and the audience laugh in a world filled with a lot more depressing things than were there when I was a child. Even though many friendships from high school fall to the wayside when going to college, the friends I have made at UGA will stay far better connected.
