I am Tumelo Mashanye, a third-year student at the University of Johannesburg, pursuing a Bachelor of Education for the senior phase and further education and training (FET) phase, specializing in mathematics and physical sciences. I firmly believe that when subjects, including those I specialise in, are taught well, they are neither intimidating nor difficult to learn.

As a passionate player of chess and a soccer fan, I have developed a strategic and analytical mindset for approaching problems( problem solving). I am dedicated to applying these skills in the classroom. Chess has sharpened my ability to think steps ahead, foresee obstacles, and plan carefully, while soccer has emphasized the importance of teamwork, discipline, and adaptability in high-pressure situations. I recognize that both pursuits share similarities with effective teaching, as they require patience, foresight, and the flexibility to change strategies when initial methods prove ineffective.

As a 21st-century aspiring teacher, I intend to fulfill the duties of a teacher, which include incorporating technology into my teaching, understanding that modern learners interact with content in ways that differ from earlier generations, and using digital tools and visual simulations to help clarify abstract concepts in math and science.
