Tyson Pratcher has directed the $5 billion opportunistic investments portolio at the NY State Common Retirement Fund in New York City since 2011. In 2015 he was given the additional responbility of directing the $7 billion absolute return strategies portfolio. His responsibilities include selecting asset managers, negotiating terms for each investment, monitorig investments, performing market research and participating in the Fund's Risk Advisory Council and Investment Committee. Tyson Pratcher previously ran the emerging manager program. The program was one of the first in the country to have programs in each asset class.
He previously served as deputy state director at the Office of U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. As the second most senior staff member in the state of NY, Mr. Pratcher advised Senator Clinton on legislative matters and political matters.
In addition to his professional experience, Tyson Pratcher holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Hampton University in Virginia. He received his JD from the Columbia University School of Law. While attending Columbia as a Dunaway Scholar, he contributed to the National Black Law Journal.
