Tyson B. Walter

Mr. Walter is from Bainbridge, Ohio where he attended Kenston High School and later accepted a full scholarship to The Ohio State University (“OSU”). Upon finishing a triple major at OSU in Finance, Economics, and Insurance and Risk Management, Tyson was selected in the sixth round of the 2002 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. There he played for three (3) full seasons followed by stints with the Houston Texans, Washington Redskins, and Green Bay Packers for a total of six (6) seasons.
While in Dallas, Tyson joined a private equity real estate firm at inception called United Development Funding ("UDF"). The company began with a bridge lending strategy for real estate developers and has grown to encompass the investment in, and financing of, all phases and forms of the real estate spectrum and lifecycle. Investments are structured through equity, joint ventures, senior debt, and subordinate and mezzanine financing structures which are collateralized by acquisition and development loans, lot banking structures, bond anticipation notes, receivable financing, DIP loans, and vertical construction facilities. Mr. Walter initially developed all macro and micro analytics for general economic cycles, as well as specific economectrics relative to industry, strategy, and collateral profile; prepared offering documents and SEC filings; and underwriting specific investments and portfolios. Since inception his duties have contributed to growing the initial $10 million private placement into 6 distinct funds with in excess of $1.3 Billion in assets under management and 17,000 unique investors. Investment vehicles are comprised of a publicly listed mortgage REIT and one non-traded REIT, one mezzanine debt fund, and three leveraged debt and equity funds. UDF’s growth has resulted in the further expansion of roles to encompass directing all aspects of the investment lifecycle from sourcing, underwriting, performance, and dispositions. Additional activities include:
- Corporate Leadership-Daily oversight and management of portfolio company;
- Due Diligence (Internal and External)-Lead underwriting of over 90 specific investments between $500,000 and $80 million;
- Technology-design, development, and implementation of a proprietary database system and various economic and investment models.
