Valerie Peterson Brown
I am Valerie Peterson Brown and I am a child of God. My life has been lived with a passion and a desire to serve Him with everything that is within me. At the age of six, I had to be taken out of school and spent the better part of a year confined to bed. This kind of confinement for a six year old is pure torture but thanks to God I realized the miracle of recovery. This period of time and the medical prognosis indicated the possibility I might not live. The doctors prepared my parents for the probability I would have heart surgery at Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis with a 50/50 chance of survival.
In the experience of my suffering I learned profoundly the power of prayer. My parents, other family members and the church family where I attended were diligent in their appeal to God for my miracle. As time passed and faith was exercised I realized that my journey with God was to be an ongoing adventure. After a continuance of care and medical evaluation we were told by the physicians that the heart murmur was diminished and surgery was not required.
God has been my friend amidst many trials, confusion, pain and side tracts of Satan. It is through the tender mercies of my Holy Friend that I live today and am able to speak of my life experiences. I have always known that He was making a path that I must follow. I shall always be directed by my Holy Friend!
The first book I have written entitled Devotions for the Wounded Warrior was published in February of 2000. In this book I speak from experience and I live through it daily. I started writing poetry in 1995 to let my feelings spill onto paper for all to see. All of my pain and confusion, as well as my joys and knowledge of the Father lay exposed to the world. At this time putting these things in book form was the last thing on my mind; however, God was working a plan for my life. So here I am in total wonder that He has chosen me as a servant in His garden.
I tend His garden by speaking His words to those who need them, by listening when pain is evident and by following His footsteps and helping others to find their way. I am here for that purpose and I pray that His Spirit will manifest in such a way that you will come to know God as I do.
