Vasilis Koutroulis is a three-time award-winning shipbroker and the Founder and Managing Director of Seaborne Shipbrokers S.A, a privately owned shipbroking group with offices in Athens, Singapore, and Shanghai.
He began his career in shipbroking in London in 2004 as a founding member of Cass Maritime Ltd, a London-based shipbroking company. In 2007, he joined Cass Technava Maritime S.A. in Athens, Greece, where he served as Director of Sale & Purchase and Newbuildings until 2019. During his tenure, the firm was twice recognized as Shipbroker of the Year by Lloyd’s List. Vasilis Koutroulis also led the company’s expansion into tanker and LPG chartering, establishing a strong track record in these markets.
In 2019, he founded Seaborne Shipbrokers S.A, a dynamic and competitive shipbroking group specialising in newbuildings, sale & purchase, tanker and LPG chartering, corporate finance, research, and valuations. Under his leadership, the firm has earned a reputation for executional excellence and unwavering dedication to delivering value to its clients.
Seaborne was named Shipbroker of the Year by Lloyd’s List in 2020 at the end of its inaugural year. In 2024, it expanded into M&A and capital advisory through its affiliated firm, Seaborne Capital Connect Ltd, and further strengthened its international footprint with the opening of offices in Singapore and Shanghai. Vasilis Koutroulis plays a central role in cultivating strategic partnerships, fostering long-term client relationships around the globe.
In 2025, he established the Seaborne Foundation, an independently run institute committed to environmental protection. The foundation actively supports initiatives focused on marine conservation, ecosystem restoration, and the preservation of the natural environment, while also engaging in a wider range of activities aligned with its core mission.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance and Marketing from the American College of Greece and a Master’s degree in Shipping, Trade and Finance from London’s Cass Business School.
