The Ventura County VBAC Guide is a free educational resource created to help expecting families understand vaginal birth after cesarean with clear, evidence-based information. Too many women are told that once they have had a cesarean, their choices are closed. For most, that is simply not true. Our goal is to replace fear and misinformation with facts, warmth, and a realistic sense of the options.

Who publishes this guide
This guide is presented by The Midwife & More, the concierge midwifery practice of Christy Cannon, CNM, WHNP-BC. Christy is a double board-certified nurse midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner with a master’s degree from Georgetown University. Before becoming a midwife, she spent more than two decades as a NICU nurse. She is a mother of five.

Christy is the first Certified Nurse Midwife to offer holistic birth services at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, California. Her model brings together the personal, unhurried attention of a midwife with the safety net of a hospital and an on-call OB/GYN, Dr. Thomas Cachur, who has more than 25 years of experience. Her concierge approach means continuity of care with the same provider, texting and phone access, home visits, and a birth plan that is truly honored.

Our promise: Everything here is written to inform, not to pressure. A VBAC is one good option among others, and the right choice is the one you make with a provider who knows your history and listens to your voice.

An important note
This website provides general educational information about VBAC. It is not medical advice and does not create a provider-patient relationship. Your candidacy for a trial of labor, and every decision about your care, should be made with a qualified provider who reviews your personal medical and operative records.
