At NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, I lead a remarkable team producing videos, news updates and social media to keep the world engaged with 20+ space missions studying Earth, the planets, asteroids, comets, stars and galaxies.
It's a busy universe -- we produce over 400 articles per year along with dozens of videos. Through social media we reach over 25 million followers across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and more. Our work has been recognized with multiple Webby awards and the SXSW Interactive award for best social media campaign. In 2018 and 2019, we won back-to-back Emmy awards for Outstanding Original Interactive Program for our campaigns around missions to Saturn and Mars.
My work has been featured in the NY Times, ABC, NBC, Mashable, CNET and others. I created NASA's first mission accounts on Twitter followed by NASA's first "Tweetup" (now called NASA Socials) & first interactive live streaming channels. I've guest blogged for Gizmodo, served as panelist/moderator multiple times at SXSW Interactive Festival and been invited to talk at organizations including NATO, the National Institutes of Health, Warner Brothers, Social Media Week, NAB and numerous international marketing conferences.
In 2010, Forbes.com listed me as one of 20 Inspiring Women to Follow on Twitter. In 2012, Mashable.com included me on their list of 15 Twitter Accounts Every Space Lover Should Follow. I've humbly received NASA's Exceptional Achievement and Exceptional Service medals; been awarded the Aerospace Awareness Award by Women In Aerospace (WIA), and the Space Communicator Award by the RNASA Foundation. Prior to joining NASA-JPL, I worked 15 years at CNN focusing on technology, space and the environment. Most importantly, I'm the proud mom of two wonderful grown kids who have launched their own careers.
