Veterans 4 Veterans

I started Veterans 4 Veterans because I don't ever want a service member to feel the way I did when I returned to the civilian way of life. I served sixteen and half years in the Marine Corps and was medically retired in January of 2005. When I returned home from active duty the only place I knew of for veterans was the veterans administration regional office. This information I knew because on active duty the services have what they call TAPS which stands for Transition Assistance Post Separation program. This program is helpful but its not enough.

For example, I felt alone, abandoned, betrayed, afraid, lost, and confused when I was discharged from acruve duty. The situation put me in a depression that not only effected me but my wife and kids too. The depression was a significant part of the reasons why I chose to act, by developing this organization to help all of those who come after me. I felt there was no organization around that was there to help me. I didn't have any place I could turn to, the country that I defended, the people that I protected all turned their backs on me, was the way I was feeling.

Feeling this way I pressed on for years before I finally got some help. The help I received was not up to the standards it needs to be. With determination from my children and myself I knew there was a better way to help. With Veterans 4 Veterans there is an alternative for service men and women to go to who are having financial, family, and physical problems. They now have a veteran run facility and resources that are not available to everyday people, They have an advocate for their needs and a place that truly cares for them.
