I teach yoga to children and adults of all ages and all levels of ability in a variety of settings. I try to incorporate mindful meditation into every class I teach and believe that it is never to early to start.
I have developed strong ties to my community since moving to downtown Jersey City 5+ years ago (I live in the Village neighborhood), and believe that I can continue to give back to my community through teaching yoga.
What led me to a regular yoga practice a few years ago was a desire to better handle the stresses of being a full-time stay-at-home mom to an active toddler.
I believe that yoga was the part of the puzzle that had been missing from my life, and felt that every class I took was a gift to myself and my family, because when I was able to practice regularly, I felt calmer, more grounded, and better able to be present with my loved ones.
I received my 200-RYT through FlorYoga in the Spring of 2014, completed FlorYoga’s 85-hr Pre/Postnatal Yoga Training in the Summer of 2014, and most recently, completed Karen Mandell’s 15-hr Restorative Yoga Training in October 2014.
When practicing and teaching adults, I enjoy both vigorous vinyasa (heated or unheated) as well as more gentle asanas, something that was necessary after tearing a ligament in my knee a month into my first yoga teacher training. While definitely a challenge at the time, I believe that this has made me better able to help students with injuries of their own.
I am a staff instructor at SunMoon Yoga (www.sunmoonyoganj.com), teaching a weekly 90-minute Restorative yoga class every Sunday at 11.30am, as well as a hot vinyasa class on Thursday mornings at 9.30am.
Additionally, I teach a mix of group and private kids yoga classes throughout Jersey City - at both schools and residences.
