The Power of VOICE

Can you imagine the world withoutVOICE?

Imagine for one second that nohuman being can make a sound with their mouths. How will the human racecommunicate? How will teachers teach their students? How will a salespersonsell his products and services? How would a lawyer defend his client? How wouldnews be delivered, stories be told and songs be sung without voice?

There is no sound in the worldmore powerful than the human voice. Perhaps not the loudest, nor the mostrelaxing, but the most powerful sound nonetheless. In his Ted talk “How to Speakso People will Listen” speaker and author Julian Treasure said it best: “It’sthe only sound that can start a war, or say I LOVE YOU.”

It is both incredible andunfortunate that despite the knowledge about the power of the voice, most peoplenever had a moment’s training on how to use it, and perhaps never made aconscious effort to think about their own voice. Do you realize that most ofthe way we sound has been developed unconsciously and influenced by the peoplearound us? We picked it up from our parents, teachers, friends, and even fromradio, television and the internet.

Our voice can reveal so much aboutus – gender, age, your true thoughts and feelings, educational background andeven social status. We always say that “first impressions last,” and this isespecially true when it comes to our voice. We might not be aware of it, but wemake assumptions about people’s personalities and character based on the waythey sound.

The VoiceMaster Academy is founded by noneother than the VoiceMaster of the Philippines, Pocholo de Leon Gonzales. As a veteranvoice artist, experienced radio broadcaster, internationally-acclaimed youthadvocate, author and highly sought-after motivational speaker and trainer,Pocholo has utilized his voice not only for the purpose of entertaining people,but more importantly for inspiring, motivating and empowering them.

Pocholo is the CEO of CreativoicesProductions, and the force behind many advocacy organizations such as Voice ofthe Youth Network and Voice Care Philippines. At present, Pocholo is aPhilippine delegate to the Advanced Leadership Training of Haggai Institute,the premier international Evangelism school for world Christian leaders. Hispassion for voice drives his mission of producing a new generation of voiceartists, which fuels his vision of making the Philippines the center ofvoiceover excellence in Asia.
