Waqas I. Yousafzai is a professional with experience at all three levels of Canadian government. He is currently an Economist with the federal department responsible for economic diversification of Western Canada. Previous to joining the federal public service, Waqas was a Manager with the Province of Alberta's Department of Advanced Education. He has also worked on multiple international projects in the realms of policy development and economic diversification in Ghana, Mongolia, Qatar, Syria, and Austria. Waqas also sits on the bilingual National Board of Directors of the World University Service of Canada and the Canadian Art Therapy Association. He holds a Masters in Public and International Affairs from the University of Ottawa, an Honours Bachelors specializing in Sustainable Local Economic Development from the University of Waterloo, and an executive project management post graduate certificate from Royal Roads University in Victoria. Waqas has also successfully completed the Government of Alberta's leadership development program and the Institute of Corporate Directors' Not-For-Profit governance program.
