Until six years ago, I was a journalist, mostly a copy editor. Then, unfortunately, I fell down my stairs on my head, was hospitalized (in intensive care for 4 weeks), then transferred to the rehab facility down the hill. After rehab, I was denied the right to return to work. Also, I lost my drivers license. Don't know whether I'll ever be able to drive again. But enough of that sadness. Since my forced retirement at age 57, I've spent a lot of time on the Internet, had fun on my computer, taken classes through CDs on the Dead Sea Scrolls, Russia from Peter the Great to Gorbachev, and Hitler's horrid reign. Ever since I got out of college and didn't have to read anymore, I've become an avid reader. While I was in the hospital I read a 900-page book. And now I have a Kindle, on which I've downloaded a number of recent books. I also take classes from time to time in writing a blog and making it pay (I gave that up after a while), and took a bridge clsss (I missed a lot of classes in my junior year of college because I was over playing bridge with friends). I love to play bridge, though I'm not yet very good, so I'm about to take an intermediate class.
