David Weinstein received his Ph.D. in marine geology and geophysics at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS). He is wellregarded by his peers as a highly knowledgeable and skilled marine geologist, scientific communicator, project manager, consultant (science and legal), educator, scientific SCUBA diver, and entrepreneur visionary.

As an expert on reef structural sustainability, some of David’s research focuses on the geology of mesophotic coral reefs (reefs with light-dependent corals at depths ~30–150 m), reef growth and bioerosion, geomorphology, and reef organism recovery (see his mesophotic website here, including publications, pictures, contact info, and more). David has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, and presented at international conferences, museums, and schools.

Through Weinstein Reefworks, David uses his experience to provide critical consultation to companies and organizations, helping with artificial reef-facilitated improvements for coastal sustainability, coral growth, ecotourism, community building, and education. Please contact David at [email protected] if you would like help with your next project or are looking for collaborators and partners through David’s vast network.
