Meet the Teachers

Lauren Weitzel is in her 10 year at The Shipley School. She attended Penn State University where she earned a B.A. in Advertising, but often found herself telling people that what she really wants to be when she grows up is a teacher. She then obtained an M.S. in Elementary Education from St. Joseph’s University. Before working at Shipley she taught Kindergarten and 2 grade in South Philadelphia. Lauren grew up in Merion with a sister (Mrs. L.) and a younger brother. She currently lives in Havertown with her husband, daughter, and 2 dogs, and enjoys baking and reading in her spare time.

Julie Benenhaley is in her 3rd year at The Shipley School, working as a second teacher in Kindergarten. She has a B.F.A. in Art Education and is certified to teach Elementary Education K-6. She is currently in a graduate program working towards a M.A. in Education. Julie grew up in near by Delaware County with her parents and 5 siblings. In her spare time she enjoys to paint, work on her new house and travel. She also loves to spend time with her fiancé, her dog and her cat.
