“When you live for a strong purpose, then hard work isn’t an option. It’s a necessity.” Not only does this quote from Steve Pavlina hold great meaning to Winston Holloway, it also is a phrase that he continuously lives by. Trusting the path to success through dedicating hours of hard work and not cheating the process is essential to achieving one’s goals and becoming successful. Fulfilling your purpose and becoming successful is not an easy road; therefore one must overcome some struggles along the way. Frederick Douglass has been quoted as saying, “without struggle there is no progress” and this quote holds true as Winston has journeyed along his path to fulfilling his purpose and achieving his goals. It was during his internship at Raleigh Television Network in the summer of 2010, when Winston realized his purpose was in communications and broadcast media. Upon graduating high school, Mr. Holloway enrolled into Davidson College, where he received the Bonner Community Service scholarship and an AmeriCorps Vista Education Scholarship Award. Winston involved himself in many different spheres in the Davidson College community where he was a columnist for the Davidsonian Newspaper, a member of the Black Student Coalition, Virtuous Praise Gospel Choir and the scout basketball team. He is also a member of the Tau Omicron chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. where he has been the Social Chair, Chaplain, and Corresponding Secretary. Winston recently transferred to Howard University, where he is a Sociology major and Journalism minor. At Howard University, he is a member of NAACP chapter on campus and a contributing writer for the campus newspaper, The Hilltop. Winston has gained vast experience through working as a videographer and consultant with Holloway Media Group, LLC, an internship with the NCACDC, the NABEF Media Sales Institute as a volunteer program assistant, and even being employed as a production assistant at Raleigh Television Network. Currently, Winston is a Production Intern for Around The Horn, which airs on ESPN weekdays at 5pm. Winston Holloway’s career goals after graduating are to pursue a career in sports broadcast and to further the work of Holloway Media Group.
