Zoe Ryan

Melbourne

Zoë Ryan & the Dandy Lion play catchy, hook-driven music that defies the limitations of genre, with a strong focus on the craft of songwriting.

The Perth-born, Bridgetown-raised songstress moved to Melbourne in 2009, where at the tender of age of 19 she cut her teeth in the Melbourne music scene playing open mics and eventually gigs and festivals as a solo performer.

In 2013 she ran a successful crowdfunding campaign to record her debut EP come art project (an ongoing real life patchwork via CD sales) to be titled Our Patchwork Hearts, not knowing that this would also be the start of something else – enter the Dandy Lion, a collection of musical friends she had collaborated with in the past who came to the table one by one, culminating in the rich sound of a six piece.

Zoë penned a Dandy Lion drawing, took her band to market to dandy up, and so began the tale of Zoë Ryan & the Dandy Lion.
Their performances are marked by their eclectic instrumentation and their dandy imagery, working in tandem with the emotionally charged energy and powerful storytelling present in all songs, the kind that comes from years of exploration in songwriting.

Our Patchwork Hearts was released on Valentines Day of 2014 and can be found on iTunes, Spotify, Rdio, Unearthed, Soundcloud, Bandcamp (basically anywhere you find music) and selected independent record retailers and Pozible.com

The patchwork project will be documented online via social media and at www.ourpatchworkhearts,com (still under construction)
