One day, in the Third Grade, I discovered one of my most notable and ridiculous talents. It all began when I was handed my first and very own textbook. While I was incredibly excited about receiving that textbook, it did not take long for my brain to wander to all the ways that I could make mischief with it. While I am not exactly sure how I came to this conclusion, I decided to place the textbook on the top of my head. Sure enough, I discovered that not only was I able to balance the book without any issue, but I could do lots of other actions with it perched on top of my head. After spending lots of time testing out my balance with books of all shapes and sizes, I eventually moved on to try fruit, bottles of water, boxes, and other household items. After years of practicing balance, I gained the ability to write, draw, eat, walk, hula-hoop, and play piano while balancing something on my head. While most people would not consider my talent to be conventional I found ways to incorporate it into everyday life. Tasks like carrying groceries have become much easier. Whenever I need another hand I find my little talent helpful. More recently, I have created a sort of act out of my balancing talent at different local children’s events and fundraisers.
