Amanda Ang Qi Qi

Amanda hails from a sunny tropical island in Southeast Asia called Singapore. When she was a child, she wanted to be a superhero, like Captain Planet or the Powerpuff Girls. As she grew up, she realized that 'saving the world' didn't necessarily involve superpowers or hi-tech utility belts. She realized that being a hero meant standing up and fighting for what you believe in, given the resources at your disposal. Her mother and her grandmother are her greatest heroes.

After completing the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, she moved to Urbana, Illinois to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Consumer Economics (Concentration in Environmental Economics and Policy) at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Amanda hopes to get pursue a PhD in Environmental Economics.

Amanda is a very enthusiastic choir girl, having sung in school and church choirs since 2008. Amanda currently sings for the 10.30 am Mass choir at St. John's Catholic Newman Center at the University of Illinois. She is a proud Roman Catholic and is actively involved in activities held by the Newman Center.

In her spare time, Amanda enjoys reading, cooking, hanging out at the beach and plucking away on her ukulele.
