My name is Amartei Armar (Tei) and I am the product of a Ghanaian father and an American mother. Living in between both cultures, I spent most of my childhood creating stories that combined Ghanaian and American forms of storytelling with my older brother. I take great pride in being a person of two origins!Years later, this early experience served to fuel my dreams in becoming a filmmaker, and creating stories that revolved around cultural identity and belonging.

Ultimately, I want to journey back to Ghana to give the fellow storytellers, poets, speakers, filmmakers, and any other form of artistic expression, a stronger voice. To me, they are keepers of the culture, and have arguably the greatest role in preserving who we are and our history. They can relate history to the present day, and generate ideas for change that is inspired by the culture itself.

I live my life inspired by a saying Nkrumah (Ghana's First President) once said:

"They said we should learn how to crawl before we walk. They didn't know we were only interested in flying."
