Horticulturalist and Gardener in Nottingham

A professional Horticulturalist based in Nottingham with interests in; estate management, herbarium curation, arboriculture, ecology and conservations and community gardening.

With an FdSc in Horticulture at Nottingham Trent University and having worked in industry for the last two years I have returned to studies to finish my degree.
​​​​​​​In my two years of industry I have secured an Herbarium Curator Internship at Kew Gardens from June through August 2022, and a year traineeship which started in September 2022 at Tregothnan Estate in Cornwall part of the HBGTP scheme before being promoted to Senior Plantsman and Assistant Head Gardener.

During my time at Kew Gardens I aided in the reclassification of the Acanthaceae family, understood the families morphological traits and characteristics, took part in identification sorts three times a week with world experts and aided in a research paper based on endemics of Ethiopia.

Whilst working at Tregothnan I underwent weekly plant identification tests and daily technical journals as a trainee before being promoted shortly after joining to Senior Plantsman/Assistant Head Gardener working on Plant Records, two National Collections of Camellia: C. reticulata cvs. & hybrids, C. sasanqua.

Other roles responsibilities included mapping all trees and specimen plants within the botanical gardens using Tremap, delivering plant identification tests to a student which I mentored throughout her year traineeship, oversaw the polytunnel operations leading propagation trials, irrigation methods and IPM.

Industry based tickets to date include: Chainsaw Cross Cutting and Maintenance, Use of Hand Held Hedge Trimmers, Use of Pedestrian and Ride on Mowers. Tractor Driving and Use of Trailers. UTV driving with trailer. PA1 and PA6
