Aarón Gamaliel Ramos was born in Fajardo Puerto Rico in March 16, 1946. He is Professor of Social Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico and a former Director of the Institute of Caribbean Studies in that institution. He has lectured extensively throughout the Caribbean and in several universities in the United States. He has lived in Argentina and Brazil and lectured at several universities in the United States (including the City University of New York, the State University of New York, and Rutgers University), the Université d’Etat d’Haïti in Port-au-Prince, and the Universiteit van Aruba in Oranjestad, Aruba. He is a member of Caribbean Studies Association and other professional organizations and research groups.
