Aarthi Narayanan

Marketer in Los Angeles, California

I strongly believe that two things in this universe are infinite - data and human stupidity. I also believe that my role as a marketer is to effectively take advantage of these infinite sets to help businesses (and of course, people!).

No, seriously! Did you know that the number of people who drowned by falling into a swimming pool highly correlates with the number of films Nicholas Cage appeared in?

I've seen such ridiculous correlations in business context (which leads me again to my purpose). There is no limit to the amount of data - and to the conclusions we can derive from data. But, are you seriously going to ask Nicholas Cage to stop acting in movies, because you own a resort with an infinity pool?

Data is a means to end, not an end in itself. And to derive actionable marketing insights from data, one must thoroughly understand the business problems, the marketing options available, and the business context.

That's where I come in.

I hold a bachelors degree in Computer Science & Engineering and am currently pursuing a masters degree in marketing. In other words, my left and right brain works equally. I'm creatively analytical and analytically creative (which is great for businesses, btw!). I can effectively trim down the data to what's necessary and important, and derive "meaningful" correlations and insights. I am well-versed in a number of tools - both for marketing and data analysis, like SQL, Excel, SAS, Tableau, SPSS, Google Analytics, AdWords, MailChimp yada yada.

My purpose in life is to be happy. Data makes me happy. Getting the right products to the right people at the right time makes me happy. Changing the way businesses do business makes me happy. Doing what has never been done before, big or small, makes me extremely happy.

Specifically, my areas of interest are marketing technology management, personalization in digital marketing, marketing automation, content marketing, AI in marketing and omni-channel.

I'm a voracious reader and I'm currently reading O! Pioneers by Willa Cather. I love Mark Manson & the subtle art of not giving a duck (duck, autocorrect!). I'm also a Game of Thrones addict and love Mumford & Sons.

Hit me up, and I'd be happy to talk to you about me & about anything marketing!
