Technology Instructional Coach in Sikeston, Missouri
I have been in the educational field for the last 13 years-from being a classroom teacher, ITV instructor and a technology instructional coach. I am currently working for Sikeston R6 Schools, as an Technology Instructional Coach, where I am currently assisting the district on their 1:1 initiative, Project iLearn.
While early in my teaching career, I was able to participate in eMINTS training and gain certification. I believe through this training, it forever changed my outlook and philosophy of education.
I learned that instruction is best when it is centered around students' needs. That when it is driven by the passions and interests of students. That teachers roles in the classroom are more of learning environment designer, rather a sage on the stage. That good pedagogy can be driver in student achievement, technology is the accelerator.
Through Project iLearn at Sikeston R6, I coach teachers on PBL strategies and technology integration. This includes conducting planning and reflective conversations with teachers, leading collaborative meetings with departments and designing district-wide professional development. Most importantly, I enjoy helpings teachers embrace new instructional strategies and help them making learning fun and meaningful to all students.
I am eMINTS and Cognitive Coaching™ certified. I have a life 1st-6th teaching and secondary administration certificate.
