Abby Seitz
Journalist and Editor in Jerusalem
I am an American journalist based in Jerusalem. I am the features editor at Haaretz's English edition.
I also work on the editorial side of the Haaretz Podcast and commission features for the Jewish World section. Sometimes I report.
Freelance journalists based anywhere in the world are welcome to send pitches to abigail.seitz[at]haaretz.co.il.
I have also written about Israel/Palestine for The Washington Post, Jewish Currents, Teen Vogue, The Progressive, The Forward and elsewhere. My writing portfolio is here.
I studied journalism at Columbia College Chicago and spent a semester studying abroad on a ship while sailing from Hamburg, Germany to San Diego, California.
I've also spent time as a farmhand at an animal sanctuary in Ireland; studying Talmud at the Conservative Yeshiva and pop-up yeshivot in Edinburgh and Chicago; tending to rescue chickens outside of London; documenting Israeli settler/military violence in the West Bank; and stacking yogurt at Wegmans. I am from Warrenton, Virginia, where I landed my first freelance gig as a seventh-grader covering sports for The Fauquier Times.
