I’m Dr. Abdelrhman Maher Abo-Zed, a triple board-certified physician in internal medicine, pulmonary, and critical care medicine. Growing up in New Jersey, I was fortunate to have the support of my parents, my wife—who has been my best friend since childhood—and mentors who instilled in me the values of perseverance and hard work. My journey into medicine was shaped by my time as a collegiate athlete, where I learned discipline, resilience, and the importance of teamwork—skills that continue to guide me in the ICU.
After earning my medical degree with high honors from Ross University School of Medicine, I completed my residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and served as Chief Fellow at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. My passion lies in critical care, where quick decision-making and collaboration can mean the difference between life and death. I specialize in advanced pulmonary procedures, critical care ultrasonography, and high-acuity ICU management.
Beyond patient care, I’m deeply committed to research, education, and innovation. I’ve contributed to medical literature, taught ultrasonography at the largest regional course in the country, and co-authored Rapid Response Events in Critical Care, a resource for training young physicians. I also founded Care Beyond ICU, a healthcare initiative designed to support patients in their recovery after critical illness.
Outside of medicine, I find balance in cooking, hiking, traveling, and staying active through sports and fitness. For me, success isn’t just about professional achievements—it’s about making a lasting impact on patients, mentoring future physicians, and continuously striving to improve healthcare.
