With 15 years of immersive experience spanning media production agencies, government, political communication, and non-profit sectors, I've held multifaceted roles as a media consultant, rapporteur, digital media manager, website content developer, content manager, videographer, and multilingual moderator. Fluent in Somali, Swahili, Turkish, and English, I excel in leveraging creative problem-solving in mass communication, TV and video production, and journalism.
My career includes pivotal roles at TRT, BBC, Multichoice's Supersport, Disney, National Geographic in Kenya, and Kenyan radio stations like Radio Salaam, Star FM, Warsan FM, and Risala FM. Across these platforms, I've produced impactful media packages and directed compelling documentaries, audio content, and advertisements in English, Swahili, and Somali, enriching media landscapes with versatile storytelling that resonates globally and drives meaningful change.
Throughout my career, I've contributed to public dissemination and storytelling initiatives for IEBC, IOM, EU, UNHCR, FILMAID, and USAID, fortifying my expertise in media production and commitment to using media for positive change. Central to my work is humanizing narratives, breaking down messaging barriers, and fostering awareness to address societal risks.
Recognized for contributions to journalism and cultural preservation, I received accolades like the Best Power Retail Story at the Kenya Energy Journalism Awards and secured 2nd place in the Kenya Swahili Soccer Commentator competition Supersport Bonga Boli. Awards such as Best Performing Artist in North Eastern Kenya and Best Cultural Artist at the Kenya Music and Cultural Festival underscore my dedication to arts and culture.
In academia and community leadership, I chaired the Journalism Students Union at Technical University of Mombasa and the Muslim Students, fostering academic excellence and engagement.
I hold a Master's Degree in Media and Communication Studies from Ankara University, Turkey, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism & Mass Communication from Technical University of Mombasa, Kenya.
Educationally honored as the most disciplined student at Wajir High School's Annual Prize Giving Day and achieving 1st Runner-up in the Best Performed English Choral Verse at the Kenya National Drama Festival, I continue to embody a commitment to excellence across media, communication, and community engagement.
