The history of the development of Korean language is usually divided into three times.

Old Korean: Old Korean to english could refer to the language used in Korea prior to the 15th century. There isn't much information about the language. The period of Korean history is called The Three Kingdoms period, followed by the Unified Silla period - Silla being one of the Three Kingdoms that dominated the Korean peninsula, and also the kingdom that ended up remaining and flourishing. China had a significant influence on Korea at this time, and the few examples we have that we have of Old Korean are actually written in Chinese characters. It is difficult to understand them because the Chinese characters seem to to convey the sounds and the significance of the Korean language of the time, rather than the actual translation. This makes comprehending the meanings very difficult.

Middle Korean: The evolution from Old Korean to Middle Korean is also debated. However, generally, everyone agrees that in the fifteenth century and with the development of a unique Korean writing system and it was clear that the Korean Language had unified into what is now known as Middle Korean.
