Abdulhammed Opeyemi Babatunde

Student, Project Manager, and Innovator in Alexander Brown Hall, University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria

Abdulhammed Babatunde is studying medicine and surgery at the prestigious University of Ibadan, Nigeria, an alumnus of Clinton Global Initiative University, and a graduate of an Online Diploma in Addiction Medicine from British Columbia Centre of Substance Use. Abdulhammed is passionate about the development of health and well-being (SDG 03) of Africans through innovation, research, and volunteerism. He led his team to win the ITEST Designathon 2020 where his team designed a solution to increase HIV Self-testing and linkage to health facilities among Nigerian youths. He co-founded MyBelle, a digital health solution to reduce maternally and childhood mortality in Nigeria together with students from Harvard, Stanford, and Singapore National University, and also TIDA – a social enterprise that creates innovative thoughts to thrive amongst youths. He is the founder and director of Healthy Africans Platform, a youth-led organization that seeks to educate Africans about healthy lifestyles. Abdulhammed keeps building capacity and improving his research skills through online training, seminars, and networking. He has published 11+ global health research papers in international peer-reviewed journals and presented in international conferences. Abdulhammed volunteered with several organizations within Ibadan including Panacea Project, Asido Foundation, and SmileBuilders Initiative through which he has impacted 1000+ lives physically and 10,000+ virtually. He is an active member of the Federation of African Medical Students’ Associations where he served as Director of Media Externa of the Headquarters’ Board and currently serves as the Chairperson for the Standing Committee on Medical Education and Research (FAMSA-SCOMER). Abdulhammed Babatunde hopes to improve the healthcare system in Africa in a bid to achieve SDG 03 by 2030.
