Abdul Wahid Hamidi is a highly skilled development and strategic management expert with a proven track record of successfully managing multi-million dollar projects at national and provincial level in Afghanistan. He has over 20 years’ of senior management experience in the development sector of Afghanistan.
As founder of the “Movement to Support Quality Education in Afghanistan” which was launched in 2008, Mr. Hamidi had a significant contribution in promoting the campaign for quality education in the war torn country and the movement is now representing Afghanistan in the Global Campaign for Education. The movement has made significant inroads in the education sector and continues to contribute to the issue.
With a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and courses on human rights, strategic management, leadership, project management to his credit, Mr. Hamidi started his career as a Civil Engineering Lecturer with the Herat University in Afghanistan. This assignment drew his attention to the disastrous effects of the civil war on the Afghan society. It moved him to focus his expertise for the upliftment of his countrymen and working for the restoration of peace. He joined the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (CHA) which is a leading national Afghan NGO as Coordinator with the Engineering Technical Support Unit in 2000. His innovative approach saw him rise in a short span of time to senior management positions in this organization and in 2003 he was promoted to Coordinator for the Education and Community Development Sector .
Mr. Hamidi has led projects like the National Solidarity Program (which is the largest community development program in Afghanistan) as Coordinator for the Community Development Sector of CHA. In 2005 he was promoted to Managing Director of Education and Training through Digital Media for the CHA network. Since 2006, he is working as Director for Fundraising and Donor Relations for Saba Media Organization.
His path breaking contributions to theAfghanistan civil society, education and media sector has led to nationalrecognition for his work. He has worked as Advisor to the Chief of Staff in theAdministrative Office of the President (AOP).
