Abenah Gonzalez is a trailblazing Jamaican-Puerto Rican textile designer and recording artist, recognised as the first female Jamaican to graduate from UAL: Central Saint Martins in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design and a Diploma in Professional Studies (DIPs). She also had the honour of representing Jamaica at the International Fashion Showcase (IFS) in 2014 during London Fashion Week.

Born into a legacy of creativity as the daughter of renowned fine artist Christopher Gonzalez, OD, and fitness expert Champayne González, Abenah has forged her own path in both fashion and music. Raised in St. Ann, Jamaica, she was introduced to the visual and performing arts at an early age by her parents, alongside her three sisters, Asha, Christina, and Nailah.

Abenah’s creative journey in fashion began when she became a model for Pulse World 360, one of the Caribbean’s leading modelling agencies, and placed 4th in Miss Universe Jamaica NE.

Her passion for design led her to launch Abenah Adelaide, now Abenah González, a brand she self-funded with savings from working as entertainment staff at the five-star Sandals Dunn’s River Resort. Her exceptional talent earned her the opportunity to represent Jamaica at IFS, selected by JBDC (Jamaica Business Development Corporation) and hosted by the British Council and British Fashion Council. She later pursued a degree in Textile Design at UAL: Central Saint Martins, where she gained recognition for her innovative designs, receiving a CHASE Fund Scholarship and being named CSM Course Rep of the Year (2019). Her designs have been showcased at Première Vision Paris and the CSM Design & Make Showcase, cementing her status as a visionary in textile design and couture.

Despite the challenges of migrating to the UK alone, Abenah’s resilience and adaptability propelled her forward. While working at Annabel’s, the world’s most exclusive private members’ club, she saved money to pursue music after graduating in 2020. Her career spans fashion styling, e-commerce, fine art, modelling, and music, showcasing her multifaceted creative expertise.

With an unstoppable drive and an ever-expanding creative empire, she continues to push boundaries in artistry, style, and self-expression.
