Abhijeet Gurjar is an independent visual journalist. He has completed his Mass Communication & Journalism education in 2006 after his Engineering education.
He is a winner of the Photo SouthAsia Grant, 2020. Finalist of Portrait Competition in Indian Photo Festival. He has been selected for IPF2020 Portfolio Reviews by Nat Geo Photo Editorial Team.
Since 2017 he’s freelancing as a photographer as well as producing multimedia stories for various International Publications.
He is developing his personal work ‘Prisoners Rehabilitation‘ and ‘Football Culture of Kolhapur’. He got an opportunity to Exhibit the ongoing project on the campus of Kolhapur Central Jail in November 2018.
Being a Visual Journalist he is contributing to international Photo agencies Zuma Press and Majority World. He has been also featured in The Time UK, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal, Mongabay, The Hindu, The wire, The wire Marathi, FirstPost, Lokmat publications.
He has also work experience as a local fixer for two projects. ‘Sugar Girls’ is about the abusive hysterectomy of migrant women cane cutter labourers. It is being exhibited In Visa pour Images Festival of Photojournalism, Paris 2020 and rewarded a grant from the Foreign Ministry of France.
