Externally, served as an early advisor on product development and strategic marketing to the CEO of Remitly. The company went public (IPO) valued at $6.9 billion in September 2021 on NASDAQ.
A strong advocate of supporting local businesses who Co-Founded the Coalition for Investing in Washington Jobs, which aims to create economic opportunity through public policy. Led the organization to not only save the at-risk $50 million Linked Deposit Program, which provides access to capital for minority-owned businesses, but successfully lobbied to increase its funding to $100 million.
A leader within the Filipino American community served as the President and Co-Founder of the US Philippines Commerce & Industry Agency, an organization that promotes commerce and trade between the US and the Philippines. Also, the Trade and Investment Chair for the Federation of Philippine American Chambers of Commerce created opportunities for several businesses to grow via joint ventures and alliances. On a local level, he is the President Emeritus and Board Member Advisor of the Filipino Chambers of Commerce of the Pacific Northwest.
Early in his career, Borromeo led the end-to-end operations of AT&T’s consumer research function and built Pacific Telesis’ external measurement consumer research center from the ground up. He left the company to open his own Mailboxes Etc. franchise and has remained an entrepreneur since.
