From early on, my safe space has been centered around food. I love everything about it: the cooking, the eating, the terrible off-key singing while baking. It is where magic meets opportunity.

My happiest memories are centered around food, whether it be Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays, or family dinners and game nights. Something about it in my mind creates a sense of peace. I do not know if it is because of the possibility of creating or the feeling of accomplishment that I did make something of value to those around me. I love every bit of it.

Because of that, these next few years I will be participating in the Food Science program offered at the University of Georgia. I am hoping to get my Master’s degree for future jobs eventually. After I get my degree, I am hoping to be in product development. Essentially, my job will be to create new food products for mass consumption, and I could not be more excited by that idea. Furthermore, I want to get into a more nutrient-dense part of the field so that the public can have more affordable, healthy food. I hope that in the next few years, I will learn how to mix foods to get the desired products, how things work in food systems, and everything in between. I cannot wait to see what the future holds!
