Abhijith Suboyin

Hi!

I am Abhijith Suboyin, a seasoned Sustainability Specialist (Scope 3) and Senior Researcher with an M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering. My expertise spans sustainability, strategy, and the application of AI/ML technologies in energy sectors. I have accumulated over 180 certifications that enhance my deep knowledge in production optimization and sustainable practices.

My professional journey began as a Petroleum Engineer, focusing on production optimization and hydraulic fracturing, but a passion for sustainability led me to specialize in water management for arid regions. Here, I co-developed groundbreaking techniques that significantly reduced freshwater consumption.

I have received numerous accolades for my work, including being named a 2023 Energy Influencer by The Way Ahead. I currently hold leadership roles as the Young Professional Champion Lead for the SPE MENA Hydrogen Working Group and the SPE Northern Emirates Young Professionals Group. My leadership was instrumental in leading the Dubai cohort of the U.A.E. team to a triumphant finish at the ideanco CLIMATHON 2021.

In my previous role, I led multifaceted projects that blended traditional energy practices with sustainable innovations, employing machine learning and data analytics to optimize resources and reduce emissions. I have been pivotal in advancing significant projects with major National Oil Companies such as ADNOC & Dragon Oil, focusing on advanced oil recovery technologies in the MENA region and creating platforms for circular energy solutions like a closed-loop steel recycling system.

As an educator, I have mentored over 120 students in various complex field management projects, internships, and graduate theses, cultivating a culture of creativity and innovation. An active SPE member since 2011, I have contributed extensively to peer-reviewed publications and conference proceedings, consistently advocating for and implementing sustainable strategies.

I am keen on forging new collaborations and leading discussions that challenge conventional energy practices, aiming to spearhead innovative and sustainable solutions in the energy sector.
