Abusiswe Mafu better known as DJ Abu passionately emerged in the music industry in 2015. Since then, she never looked back and cemented her brand around Western Cape and other provinces showcasing her dj skills and undoubtedly her ability to read the crowd flawlessly.

In 2017 her career breakthrough elevated through collaborative works with other Cape Town local artists, and being featured in Cape Town's local events as an entertainer.

In 2018 she became a winner of IPotsoyi Festival SA Next Big Thing Finalists, voted by the public to get platform at the event and earned her gigs outside of Cape Town. That led to the grow of her brand, tapping into
radio residency at various radio stations (Radio KC, Umhlobo Wenene FM ).

With inspiration from the likes of DJ Zinhle and the power of the social media, Abu broke through via Tik Tok creating more buzz during Covid and post Covid by posting her performance clips.

Her growth and demand saw her moving from being a supporting act to headlining not only in Western Cape events, but also in Eastern Cape, Durban, Johannesburg.

Dj Abu has headlined major events such as Rands F1rst Sunday, Meister Kul, Gqom Therapy, Rocking The Daisies, We Don’t Play The Same Gqom, Community Fest ,BETWEEN FRIENDS plus more.

Within the gqom movement, she grew to be one of the recognisable Distruction Boyz duo, Que Dj acknowledged her as his current hottest DJ and brought her at Amagogogo Sounds Camp.

DJ Abu is growing daily, breaking through in new niche in the market and is is just expected to advance throughout.
